Bird Watching in Far North Queensland
The Tropical North Queensland region is internationally recognized as a major destination for birdwatchers from around the world and Misty Mountains Rainforest Retreat is located right in the centre of Wooroonooran National Park in Queensland (Australia), 1367 km northwest of Brisbane, between Innisfail and Cairns.
The park is one of the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area series of national parks, and is a gazetted World Heritage site. It contains some of the oldest surviving rainforests and flora and fauna in the world and covers most of the Bellenden Ker Range
Over half of Australia's bird species are found here, including 12 species that are locally endemic to the rainforests.
